Lewis showed incredible maturity here, more than many of you might realise. As Ross Brawn said over the radio, we are asking Lewis to do that pace so we are controlling him too, in other words Nico was not faster than Lewis in outright pace and would have just run low on fuel.
Nico was not exactly honorable in that race, he was just considering pulling what Vettel did on Mark - disobeying instruction in order to pass his team-mate who actually was following orders and therefore relatively hindered for speed.
If Nico wanted the position then he should have been quick enough to pass Lewis on track before they were both told to fuel-save and tyre-save. Or maybe qualify quick enough?
Lewis was happy to just let Nico seem like the honorable one in all that and appear as the one who benefited from a team decision, just to retain team harmony and absorb the press negativity.
