Angie - the wheel light was indeed red, I checked the replay. BUT - in a 2.3 second pitstop, the driver cannot look at his mirrors, the wheel light screen (which is mounted higher than his straight line vision to clear the rear wing), and the lollipop man. Instead, he looks forward at the lollipop, and the lollipop man is looking backwards at traffic and at the wheel board. The driver has a single point of focus - his job is the perfect launch when given ONE signal. And JB has been working to perfect his launches from the jacks, as was commented by Sky in Melbourne - he has perfected wheelspin off the jack by slipping the clutch for a fast getaway.
As far as I can tell from the replay, JB was given a green by the lollipop, and Whitmarsh has confirmed this. Saying "he could have done so and so" is silly when that is just not the way the system is supposed to work. But, haters gotta hate, I understand.
