ptolomy. it is funny. two teams that are having trouble with the tyres are calling for change, but other teams which have less trouble are trying to veto a change. each looking to put the tyres in their favour.
but overall, yes, the fia dictated tyre strategy is spoiling racing, but that is what fia want. the spectacle of tyres falling off the cliff etc. any tyre company can make a tyre to last a race. wasnt there a case two years ago, where one car did the entire race (less one lap on softs) on the one set of mediums? to the fia, this destroyed the "excitement of pit stops.
different manufacturers could result in a tyre race, and ultimately give one team an unfair advantage. one manufacturer is ok, but let them provide a non (fast) degrading tyre
currently, if fia want to hobble a team, they can just specify a tyre with which they are in trouble.
