@Richard I'm not sure that answers my questions. I will ask them again, with the hope that you cristal ball works this time: What makes you think that Button was going to catch the mercs with a wounded car (high vibration on the right wheel) that was retired eventually? Even without the vibration and considering that Button was catching Rosberg "on merits", do you believe he would have sustained that pace for 23 laps on those tyres? Only Raikkonen was able to put 22 laps on his tyres on a 3 stop strategy and we all know how that hurt his race towards the end. Perez tried a 3 stopper as well but after 21 laps on his tyres, had to pit to complete the last 2 laps, which explains his fastest lap at that point. He lost spots by pitting that late. Grossjean also put 21 laps on the tyres on a 3 stop strategy, and not one of them was anywhere close to the mercs as they could not even get close to Massa who was 13 seconds behind the mercs. These are all facts.
