John, re your post “@so, in a way I am correct”, sorry to say, but I cannot agree, facts show you are far off the mark.
In my time following the sports I have seen world championships being won while not having the best car (not the best car in whichever angle one cares to look at it/interpret it).
But the above achievements belong to a few which are called greats because they were heads and shoulders above the rest at their time.
Two examples which will never be extinguished from memory are Fangio/250F Maseratti and Schumacher/Benetton, these two won championships with a car which was far from the best.
