...Employed to win for the team, not for himself ...and to win two titles (drivers and constructors), not just one race. The *team* were winning the race, but he ignored that and did whatever he wanted (or rather couldn't control himself and do what he was told to do), ignoring his employers and the bigger picture. If *his* goal was to win *that* race, then he obviously achieved it. If his goal is to win another driver's world title, then he might just have been a little short sighted. His job has probably actually been made a little more difficult, despite the extra points.
