reem would like to lump Australia, China and the US together with Bahrain human rights record. I believe the term cognitive dissonance would fit this kind of "thinking".
He points out that some minorities in Australia live in poor conditions - perhaps he is not aware that the majority of citizens in Bahrain lack any semblance of political representation on the national level and have no freedom of association or speech.
The US was accused of torturing suspected terrorists but you are comparing that with torturing average people who dare to protest and preventing doctors from treating their injuries?
China's human rights record is appalling and should be just as relevant at that of Bahrain - on this point we agree.
