Problem is... teams that truly understand their car don't deliver cars that are as far off as the McLaren is right now. Ferrari was not this far off in 2012, and even with Alonso in the pocket, could not win the WDC or WCC. McLaren will be disappointing with its upgrades, just as its is disappointed in the car as a whole - for the same reasons. Even if they now miraculously become competitiive, Button is no match for the Seb, Lu Lu, Ferdy, Kimi gauntlet in front of him. THAT would take a car that is as much quicker than the field as the Brawn was in early 2009, which will never happen again under the current rules, DRS/KERS, and junk tire structure of F1 today. Bottom line: Button simply cannot win the prize with less than the fastest car on the grid - which is something McLaren cannot currently deliver.
