While I would like to see Porsche(even Toyota, Ford, Honda, to name a few) return to F1, personally I don't blame them for not wanting to come back as the sport its too expensive to compete in. Ontop of that with the current economic climate sponsorship is getting tough to come by even for works/factory teams. Just look at the case of Yamaha in MotoGP.
I agree with your list when you talk about them globally, however geographically its a different issue. I mean despite its popularity on the global stage, MotoGP is still stuck in the nitch when it come to a big market like america.
