f1rules. not so hypothetical! i remember in malaysia, seb was told to preserve his tyres as he would wear them out. he didnt listen, RACED, and still had tyres at the end. a good driver does not need to be told how to manage his tyres!
then again, also in malaysia, when webber was backing vettel into the mercs, he was told that his tyres were ok, and to speed up....he didnt, but i believe that was deliberate.
and then there was kimi, being told to look after his tyres, and he gave the appropriate answer.
a driver has the ultimate control, and is responsible for his own decision.
