Seems pretty cut and dry if all this is true. It seems that Mercedes were well aware that this was not legal, but took a calculated risk. If it is the case that this test gave them an insurmountable advantage, then it's worth it. COuld the sanction be so bad, that if they won the title this season it would be stripped?
Let's say that the rest of the season looks a bit like Monaco, I would say that whatever penalty was imposed, it was worth it.
