Looks like Merc and Pirelli have screwed up big time and in all honesty both parties deserve to get shafted for this. It's incredible that people at this level of a business as professional as F1 can act so dim witted or is it just underhanded?
The only penalty that I can see for Pirelli is a sizeable fine and a big black mark against any future contracts in F1.
But how do you punish Mercedes? as has been said already you can't unlearn things and a financial penalty would be futile.
