Hamilton very unlucky with the timing of the safety car. I've looked at the footage closely, and you can see he lost around 5 seconds compared with the earliest he could have pulled into the pit box. He came out about 5-6 seconds behind Webber, and about 10 seconds behind Vettel, so he would definitely have lost the place to Vettel anyway, and probably Webber too. The only possibly optimisation they could have have made is if Mercedes made Rosberg go a couple of seconds quicker, and stacked Hamilton right behind him. But I'm not sure that's would have been possible.
In my book, Hamilton was deprived at least one spot by safety car circumstances, and it's debatable for the second. If anybody disagrees, I'd love for them to say why.
