Sam, no offence intended but you need get more up to date on tyre construction.
It is not just a change of the bonding, it is also a change in construction the shape of the sidewall might be the same but the tyre behaviour will be changed because they are reverting back to the 2012 construction which had the belting made of Kevlar as against the steel belting being used, the performance of the tyre will be changed, they will last longer, they will have a lower operating temperature.
I will ask again, what is going to happen as to what the FIA declared re the construction of the tyre cannot be changed?
And is the FIA going to take Pirelli and Mercedes word that they tested 2014 tyres only? as the FIA didn’t even bother to supervise the testing.
