nealio. WHAAATTTT? the teams are given tyres for testing during the three testing sessions at the start of each year. and they are also given all the computer info on the tyres. then they have free practice sessions.
sodesu. the only reason why there is a sole supplier is due to the fact that when Michelin took over the tyres there was nobody else interested. then when Michelin pulled out, Pirelli were the only supplier interested prepared to supply all teams. I don't know how current rules stand on tyres, but I don't think that there is any hard and fast rule that prohibits another supplier joining. but Pirelli themselves state that they must havecontracts with all teams. so maybe we will see a competitor??
