Richard, You know better than anyone that a car starting at the back of the grid will invariably lose time to an equal car on the front of the grid, all other things being equal. What is more, after the Safety Car the front cars only started to see traffic towards the end of the race. It is easy to get past a back marker, but far harder and more delaying when you get to the middle of the pack.
