Well I guess that if you accept his father is one of the investors with his own money and has put together the other finance for the Sauber deal through his Russian Government connections, then Sergei being *selected* as the best choice, does kinda make him a pay driver in the same mold as Petrov. Did Petrov's manager speak English? As I believe that Sergei's Russian manager does not, which could be a bit of a handicap in the world of F1.......:)
