Possibly a breakthrough result for vdG to beat his teammate fair and square in a race. In qualifying he's already shown to be able to get close to Pic and even be quicker now and then but in the races so far the pace has been lacking and seemed to drop off dramatically in the last part of the race. I wondered if it was a physical condition issue but after this race in Hungary we can rule that out.
vdG was getting a lot of flack this year that IMO was largely unjustified, particularly if you consider how the media seems to neglect the fact that there are two other drivers on the grid who perform decidedly worse in Chilton and Guttierez. vdG has only been marginally worse than Pic so far this year. Hopefully he can maintain this kind of form and silence the critics.
