I believe Kimi just said it plain. The issue was not how much he was paid at Lotus for racing, but just being paid what he was supposed to. There is no deal that can last without the basic being met by both parties. He probably may have continued even in the same team and car conditions, but not being paid in due time definitely means Lotus ditching may be in sight.
