Jerez F1 test – combined times (7-10 February)

Nico Rosberg takes combined timesheet honours at the opening F1 group test of 2012, but does so in 2011-spec Mercedes, leaving new car bragging rights to go to Lotus' returnee Romain Grosjean. But, of course, times really mean very little at this time of year....
Complete lap times for every driver from the four-day F1 group test at Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain.

Joker, Eskimo's comments are well considered, logical and based on his opinion so cut the guy some slack. What this site needs is more friendly intelligent discussion and debate and a lot less sledging.

I know testing is never entirely indicative, but the Lotus Renault cars are looking the class of the field. The Mercedes are last year's cars, and the FIA banned a lot of the aero that made those cars go so fast. That Grosjean can beat Alonso is telling. Raikonnen has some catching up to do and - like Schumacher and Massa - he may never get fully to grips again. Let's hope he does. The Red Bulls are not going to be dominant, I predict, since their best aero bits were taken away. They will be on line with Ferrari and Lotus. This, IMHO, sets up a battle royale between Vettel and Alonso. Lotus Renault has the car. Unfortunately, they do not have the drivers yet. Kimi needs to catch his speed again, it will take some time. So, I am predicting a Ferrari vs. Red Bull year, with Lotus collecting lots of podiums and perhaps a win. McLaren clearly missed the boat.
