Ricciardo ends Hitech pole run

Points leader Daniel Ricciardo has ended Hitech's pole position run after leading the way in qualifying for the second Cooper Tires British F3 International Series race of the weekend at Donington Park.

Hitech had taken a fifth straight pole in qualifying for race one thanks to Renger van der Zande, but it was Carlin's Australian ace Ricciardo who emerged quickest in the second session with a best time of 1min 02.066secs. That gave him a second pole of the year by little more than a tenth of a second from T-Sport driver Adriano Buzaid.

"It's a great way to end the day,” Ricciardo said. “This morning's P3 was good but to get in front of the two Hitech 'Batmobiles' is really good. It's going to be a really competitive second half of the season but starting from P1 is the best place to be..."

Hitech pairing van der Zande and Walter Grubmuller will share the second row of the grid ahead of Max Chilton and Carlos Huertas, with Daisuke Nakajima, Henry Arundel, Wayne Boyd and Jay Bridger rounding out the top ten.

Gabriel Dias was quickest of the National Class runners again with the twelfth quickest time, one place and less than a tenth of a second ahead of Daniel McKenzie.
