Nakajima takes maiden F3 pole – just

Daisuke Nakajima has claimed pole position for the second British F3 International Series race of the weekend at Silverstone after edging out Max Chilton by the smallest of margins.

The Double R driver posted a quickest time of 1min 15.090secs to secure his maiden pole by just 0.001secs from Chilton, who repeated his performance from first qualifying to secure another front row start.

"I can't believe it," said Nakajima after becoming the seventh different British F3 pole-sitter of the season. "I was P9 in first qualifying and we only changed the car very slightly between sessions. But the car was good and I pushed very hard, and here I am on pole."

Renger van der Zande will again start from third on the grid ahead of race one pole man – and points leader – Daniel Ricciardo, with Walter Grubmuller and Henry Arundel rounding out the top six.

Gabriel Dias took the National Class pole in twelfth overall, ahead of Daniel McKenzie and Michele Faccin.
