Andy Meyrick has strengthened his lead in the British
F3 International Series National Class on the back of a double win at Croft.
Meyrick also took a double pole and fastest lap in both races to secure maximum points from the weekend and strengthen his lead over Jay Bridger to more than 30 points. Team-mate Kristjan Einar meanwhile continued to build his race experience to take fifth place in race one and sixth place in race two.
Meyrick continued the good form he demonstrated at
Oulton Park last month, to take pole position for both races and 14th and twelfth overall - beating a number of the International Class drivers in the process. The Race Elite driver stormed to victory in both races, finishing eighth overall in race two and scored the fastest lap in both rounds to open a healthy 32 point lead over second placed man Jay Bridger.
"I'm very happy with how the weekend went," he said. "I was a little disappointed with our pace at Oulton, but I think we did a better job here, especially in qualifying. I know we won both races at Oulton but I feel I drove better here and I'm more comfortable in the car and in a qualifying situation.
"The car felt fantastic throughout the weekend, and I was talking constantly to Richard [Owen] my engineer throughout the race and he did a fantastic job. The car was spot on from the first lap to the last lap so I have to thank the team for the great job they did this weekend."
Icelandic rookie Einar came home in an impressive fifth place in race one and took part in some exciting racing with 2007 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner Stefan Wilson in race two, with the duo swapping places several times over the course of the 18 laps.
At the chequered flag it was Kristjan Einar who held the advantage to take sixth place in the National Class as he continues to come to terms with
F3 machinery.
"It was a good weekend overall," he said. "I struggled with the car a little in the second race, but I was able to race closely with Stefan [Wilson] and managed to pass him for sixth. I feel I'm improving with every round and becoming more consistent in the races. I will be aiming for the podium at the next event in Monza."
Team director Martin Stone was pleased to see Meyrick win again, adding that he didn't think it would be long before Einar was joining him on the podium.
"Andy has been fantastic again this weekend, he has backed up his stunning pace at
Oulton Park with two more wins at
Croft and two fastest laps," he said. "Kristjan had another strong weekend at the start of his racing career and the team are very impressed with the way he continues to develop. He enjoyed some exciting racing and I don't think it will be long until we see him on the podium in British F3."
