Renger van der Zande is excited about the prospect of racing in front of his home fans again as he bids to make up more ground in the fight for the Formula 3 Euroseries crown.
van der Zande has been a model of consistency in his second season of Euroseries racing, the Prema Powerteam driver scoring in six of the eight rounds this year, results that include a victory at Hockenheim.
Currently fifth in the overall standings, van der Zande is now hoping he can translate that good form into a strong result on home soil at Zandvoort, round five of the championship.
“I'm looking forward to my home event,” van der Zande, who finished fifth at Zandvoort last year, said. “There, I'm always supported by a particularly big number of fans and friends. I have delivered some rather good races at Zandvoort, in the past, and know the circuit really well.
“Contesting races there is big fun. For this weekend, I've set myself the goal to secure a podium finish in the Saturday round. A realistic goal from my point of view as my team, Prema, has done a good job so far.”
Van der Zande is one of two Dutchmen competing this season, the other being SG Formula's Henkie Waldschmidt.
