Carlin Motorsport has announced that it will field a new look driver line-up for the final round of the F3 Euroseries at Hockenheim this coming weekend.

Brendon Hartley, who finished third for the team in the British F3 International Series and also contested the last round of the Euroseries at Le Mans, will be joined in the two-car team by Oliver Oakes, who comes in in place of Rodolfo Gonzalez.

Oakes returns to Carlin having run with the team in the 2006 Formula BMW UK Championship and took part in a part campaign in British F3 this season with Eurotek; shocking series regulars by taking pole position for the final round of the year at Donington Park.

“It's nice to be joining Carlin again, although I'm jumping in at the deep end; on a track I don't know and on tyres I've no experience of!” the 20-year-old said. “It's going to be a great learning experience; Carlin is obviously a good team, and it will be good to gauge myself against other drivers. I'm sure it will be quite a steep learning curve, but I have Brendon as my team-mate and I'm really looking forward to driving in the same team as him, and learning as much as I can.”

Team boss Trevor Carlin admitted that Oakes faced something of a baptism of fire on his return to the team, but said he was hopeful that he would help the Euroseries squad move forwards – as Hartley himself did after being called up.

“Brendon is on top form at the moment, he has made a real difference to the Euro Series team and given us invaluable feedback on the Kumho tyres which is helping us improve race by race,” he said. “Oli is a good friend of the team and we are delighted to give him the chance to compete in the final round of the season.

“It will obviously be a tough weekend for him, but I believe he has the ability to help the team move forward.”
