Euro: Lancaster targets Hockenheim pole

Having taken a win already during his debut season in the F3 Euroseries, Jon Lancaster says he is looking to cross a pole position off the 'to do' list in the final rounds of the season at Hockenheim.

The ART Grand Prix driver has enjoyed a solid debut season in the series this year, capped by a win at the Norisring, and he heads to Hockenheim lying third in the rookie of the year standings.

One thing Lancaster will seek to avoid however is a repeat of the high-speed roll he suffered during the opening race of the year, where he was lucky to escape without serious injury.

"I've got nothing to lose and no reason to hold back this weekend," the teenager said. "I've only got one more chance for victory in the Euroseries and I'd like to end the year with a win as that's what people remember and it would set me up well for Macau.

"I'll definitely be giving it an extra push particularly in qualifying to give myself the best chance in race one. Pole is everything although the good thing about Hockenheim is you can overtake and as long as you're on the first two rows you've got a good shout at victory.

"That's my first target in Germany as we haven't had a pole position yet so if I can end the year with at least one pole that'd be good and will give me a lot of confidence at the end of the season. I've been quickest in practice and in the race a few times so if I can pull it all together pole should be possible."

Lancaster will join Manor Motorsport after the weekend for the end of season event at Macau.
