Euro: Bottas, Tambay complete ART line-up

ART Grand Prix has unveiled the four drivers it will charge with helping them towards a sixth consecutive Formula 3 Euroseries crown in 2009.

An accomplished line-up that includes one existing driver and three F3 rookies, young standout Jules Bianchi will be joined by Formula Renault Eurocup Champion Vallteri Bottas and Formula BMW Europe race winners Esteban Guttierez and Adrien Tambay.

Fronting their charge for another title will be Bianchi, who enters his second season with ART after an outstanding maiden year that saw him win the Masters at Zolder, while a victory on home ground at Le Mans helped spur him to third in the overall standings.

As the only driver to be retained by ART in 2009, Bianchi is aware it is up to him to maintain the French team's superb record of title wins.

“I am delighted to continue my career with ART Grand Prix! I just hope we'll do a bit better together, which means we'll be crowned in 2009. I am part of the best team in the championship and I am aware that I have an advantage. I work in every way possible to achieve my aims and it will be up to me to make the difference.”

Joining Bianchi will be a brace of F3 rookies, led by the well regarded Bottas, who prevailed in a season-long fight with Daniel Ricciardo this year to win hugely competitive European Formula Renault Championship.

“To be with ART Grand Prix and in the F3 Euro Series is a big step in my career and I'm very excited to be here with the best team! It will be my very first year in the series, it's a tough one and there are a lot of talents out there. I always want to be first but you have to be realistic and my aim will be to try to learn as much as I can, to try to win races and hopefully to be the best rookie of the year.”

As revealed earlier, Formula BMW Europe Champion Guttierez will fly the flag for the F1 support series with ART in 2009, but he will also be joined in the team by rival Adrien Tambay, son of ex-F1 driver Patrick.

Winning two races on the way to third position in the overall standings, Tambay was delighted to be graduating to F3 with the champion team.
