Performance Racing has entered into a new partnership with German manufacturer Volkswagen for 2009, as it switches its attention away from its familiar British stomping ground to concentrate on the burgeoning ATS German F3 Cup.

Racing under the 'Performance Racing powered by Volkswagen' banner, Bobby Issazadhe's team will join the growing VW F3 family as it focuses on the German series, which kicks off on Easter weekend at Oschersleben. No drivers have yet been signed to the programme, but Swede Issazadhe is confident that his Silverstone-based operation will be a popular target following its link-up with VW, which launched its full-time assault on established F3 engine rivals Mercedes and Mugen last year.

"Performance Racing is delighted to continue our association with the ATS German F3 and build on our competitive campaign from 2008," Issazadhe said, "After an exciting and rewarding season, we are delighted to have secured the support of Volkswagen as we believe it will give the team and its drivers the edge they need to succeed, and put both Performance and Volkswagen on the top step. It heralds an exciting new dawn for Performance Racing, which will make an official announcement of its driver line-up shortly."

The team, which was founded in Sweden in 1999 but soon moved its base to Silverstone to facilitate its involvement in the British F3 series, joined the German F3 circuit in 2008, taking Rafael Suzuki to seventh overall. The team also ran Asian duo Adderley Fong and Satrio Hermanto under the Performance Racing Europe banner.
