Eurasia Team Goddard has been flat out as its testing programme for 2009 picks up pace on two fronts at the Sepang F1 circuit in Malaysia and at Mallala, near Adelaide, in Australia.
Although wishing to remain anonymous until their deals are finalised, several drivers have taken the opportunity to get more miles under their belt at Sepang, whilst the outing at Mallala was designed as the next stage in preparation for the team's entry to the 2009 Australian F3 Championship.
“We have now had five drivers sample our Dallara 304 TOM's cars at Sepang in recent months, and they have all gone away feeling they have learnt a lot and that it will help their 2009 campaigns in Japan and UK,” reported team chief Mark Goddard.
"It's a cost-effective way to gain F3 miles on a grand prix circuit in good weather, which is impossible at this time of year in Japan and UK. One of the drivers set the fastest ever F3 lap time with 1min 59.8secs lap.
“The testing in Australia also went very well and we hope to announce our driver line-up for the Australian championship very shortly.”
The team will enter the burgeoning Australian series with a Dallara 307 Mercedes, as it attempts to back up its 2008 Asian F3 title with a competitive campaign 'down under'.
