Bridger joins West-Tec

Reigning National class champion Jay Bridger has been confirmed as Team West-Tec's first signing for this year's Cooper Tires British Formula 3 Championship.

West-Tec switch to the British series in 2009 having established themselves as front-runners in the Spanish Championship over the last few years, where they will compete with the unique combination of a Mygale chassis and Mugen-Honda engines.

Leading their charge will be 21-year-old BRDC Rising Star Bridger, who won last year's National title with Fluid Motorsport. For co-team principal John Miller, Bridger is the ideal candidate to front their team.

“Jay certainly made a great impression on us over the last year, and we were determined only to enter British F3 if we could secure a quality, talented and experienced driver.

“In Jay we have an asset to the team both on and off the track. His pace is in no doubt to anybody who watched last year, and he is also going to be able to lead our car development programme effectively.”

Bridger, who scored a best overall result of eighth place last season, was delighted to have firmed up his plans for the new year.

“I am delighted with the programme that we have confirmed for this season. We aim to be competitive from the word go, even with our new engine and chassis package.”
