West-Tec reveals first National Class signing

Team West-Tec has named Russian youngster Max Snegirev as its first National Class driver for the 2009 Cooper Tires British F3 International Series season.

The 21-year-old has spend recent years competing in the Formula Palmer Audi championship but will now graduate to F3 using the same Dallara F307 that Jay Bridger used to take the National Class crown last year. Bridger has already been confirmed as one of West-Tec's International Class runners for the season ahead.

Snegriev had his first test with West-Tec prior to Christmas and will continue with his programme from early March ahead of the season opener at Oulton Park.

“I am very pleased to have signed to drive for Team West-Tec in British Formula 3,” he said. “I tested with them last year and they did a very good job on a difficult weather day.

“I must thank Klaxon Media, ASM (UK) and Incar-Invest, without whose backing this deal wouldn't have been possible. I will certainly be aiming to pay them back in results on track!

“I am also very pleased to be able to drive last year's Championship-winning car and very happy to know that Jay will be on hand to give me any additional advice I need. It is very exciting all round.”

Team co-principal John Miller was quick to welcome the Russian into the team.

“Max was one of many prospective drivers we tested last year and he made an excellent impression on the whole team,” he said. “Although comparatively inexperienced, he impressed the team when he drove on what was a horrible day weather-wise and, by the end of the test, was posting very competitive lap times.

“He also worked maturely and well with the engineers to take on board the instructions he was given and I am sure he is going to show well this year.”
