FFord champ Boyd among Superstar list.

The British Racing Drivers' Club has revealed the line-up for its 2009 'Superstars' support programme, with reigning FFord champion and F3 graduate Wayne Boyd and 2008 F3 runner-up Oliver Turvey headlining the class.

The nine names revealed so far - with three more expected to complete a round dozen in the coming weeks - form the second group of rising talents to be selected by the BRDC and, despite the inclusion of both Boyd and World Series by Renault graduate Turvey, once again covers the breadth of British motorsport.

Boyd is joined by fellow champion Jonathan Adam, who triumphed in last year's SEAT Cupra series and is expected to step up to the BTCC this year, while Turvey's achievements in coming second overall in British F3 is matched by that of Mat Jackson in the BTCC. However, the rest of the group, some of whom remain on the scheme for a second year, consists of multiple race winners and championship contenders.

“The Superstars programme is an expression of the BRDC's original aim of being interested in furthering the careers of British racing drivers,'' BRDC president Damon Hill commented, ''The programme's ability to provide sound and reliable experience, and unbiased advice, has been proven in its inaugural year by a number of Superstars becoming full BRDC members and their progression toward the summit of their chosen discipline within motor racing. Our intension now is for the club's Superstars, and indeed also its Rising Stars programme, to continue to develop into a comprehensive service for the committed driver.”

The initial selection comprises Adam, Boyd, Turvey, Jackson, FRenault title favourite James Calado, Porsche Supercup racewinner Sean Edwards, Le Mans Series regular Stuart Hall, new Vauxhall BTCC signing Andrew Jordan, F3 Euroseries graduate Alex Sims - who picked up last season's McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year award - and Jason Moore, one of the first group of drivers to commit to the new F2 initiative after a strong season in Formula Palmer Audi. The remaining three names will be announced shortly.

“I would like to officially welcome our new members to the Superstars programme and congratulate those who have been chosen to continue into 2009,'' Superstars director, and Porsche racer, Tim Harvey said, ''In addition to access to the BRDC and the opportunities for networking with its members, the Superstars will continue to receive direct assistance in all aspects of professional motorsport.

''This includes help with physical and mental training, career guidance, team building skills, sponsorship and marketing advice, access to motorsport seminars and workshops with BRDC members, to name a few of the benefits the programme has to offer. I am very much looking forward to working with our class of 2009 and to developing the Superstars initiative even further.”
