British F3 entry announced

The entry list for the 2009 Cooper Tires British F3 International Series has been revealed during the annual media day event at Silverstone.

The entry is again headed by defending champions Carlin Motorsport, which will field a new-look four-driver line-up as it seeks to successfully defend the title it secured last year with Spaniard Jaime Alguesuari.

Now running with Volkswagen engines, the team will run Max Chilton, Henry Arundel, Oliver Oakes and Daniel Ricciardo, with the latter in particular having impressed during pre-season testing.

Amongst the big rivals to the defending champions will be T-Sport, also now running with VW power and with Adriano Buzaid and Wayne Boyd as part of its line-up and JTR, which returns for a second season with the Mygale of Nick Tandy. Hitech will also hope for solid performances from Walter Grubmuller as it downsizes to a one-car team, while Fortec could also impress with Victor Garcia. Riki Christodoulou, who has impressed during pre-season testing, has yet to be confirmed in a drive for the season.

In the National Class, Daniel McKenzie has been the pace-setter during the off-season for Fortec, but will face a challenge from Gabriel Dias, Victor Correa and Max Snegirev as he attempts to secure the class crown.

"This year has the most exciting prospects of any British F3 season I can remember," Stephane Ratel, Chairman of championship promoter the SRO Motorsports Group, said. "The quality of the grid in terms of driver talent is the strongest I think we have seen for many years, with nine or maybe ten drivers with a strong chance of championship victory."
