Victor Garcia was able to celebrate a pair of top ten finishes from his first weekend of competition in the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series at Oulton Park.

The Spaniard was forced to battle back from technical problems in qualifying which left him twelfth on the grid for both races, to successfully battle his way into the top ten to score points from the opening weekend of the year.

"It has been a very difficult weekend, but on the whole, the results are positive," he said following a pair of tenth place finishes. "This position allows me to get two points that can be very important at the end of the season.

"We had some problems on Saturday that prevented me from getting a good grid position, managing only twelfth. In the first round, I kept on experiencing the same problems under braking. However, in the second round we managed to sort this out and I felt more comfortable with the car. I have improved my times, but it is very difficult to overtake at Oulton Park and I could not achieve a better result."

Garcia added that he feels optimistic for the races still to come following his first weekend in the series although he admitted that an improvement in qualifying would be key to his hopes of success.

"The qualifying session will be very important as British circuits are narrow and overtaking is difficult," he said. "The most important is that we have managed to understand and resolve the problems from Saturday. I still think that Fortec's car is very competitive and I am optimistic for the next race."
