Euro: Chinosi secures Prema seat

Prema Powerteam have filled one of the few remaining seats on the 2009 Formula 3 Euroseries grid by confirming Matteo Chinosi to their team.

The Italian trialled with Prema during the recent pre-season tests at Estoril and Valencia, but has only now been confirmed as their third driver alongside Stefano Coletti and Basil Shaaban.

Chinosi switches to the European series after two seasons spent racing in the German F3 Cup, where he scored two wins and finished fifth in the 2008 standings. He is also notable for claiming a British F3 pole position at Monza last year.

"I am very pleased to have found an agreement with Prema for this season in a high profile championship such as the F3 Euro Series, which will allow me to race against the best drivers in Formula 3.

“[Team manager] Angelo Rosin had a very important role in my decision as he allowed me to participate in the collective tests although I did not have at that time any certitude to take part in the Championship.

“Of course this will be a very difficult season, however I am confident to have chosen a very competitive team, that I have continued to consider throughout the years after my first experience together a few years ago. Now from my part the main goal is to increase my competitiveness and continue to adapt the car to my needs thanks to the engineers' help, with whom I have had a very good collaboration during the tests done so far."

Prema will compete in the Formula 3 Euroseries, the World Series by Renault and the Italian Formula 3 Championship in 2009.
