Max Chilton made it a double pole for Carlin at Silverstone after leading the way in the second qualifying session for the second rounds of the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series season.

The 18-year-old, who had earlier taken pole for race one, posted a quickest time of 1min 39.781secs during the session which put him ahead of team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, who bounced back from his accident in the opening session to secure a slot on the front-row and give Carlin a 1-2 on the timesheets.

"I'm really happy to have got pole for both races," Chilton said. "Even on my quickest lap I made a mistake going into Abbey, so I think we could have been even quicker but I'm still pleased that we've confirmed the pace we had in the first session. We also managed to do some quick times with fewer laps than most drivers, so my tyres will be in better condition for tomorrow. The car felt really good so hopefully we can continue this form with some great results in the races."

Ricciardo's lap late in the session relegated Riki Christodoulou to third place while Renger van der Zande continued his impressive pace ahead of his debut with Hitech to secure fourth place. Adriano Buzaid will start from fifth place, while Daisuke Nakajima rounded out the top six.

In the National Class, Gabriel Dias also doubled up to take his second pole of the weekend after outpacing championship leader Daniel McKenzie for the second successive session.
