Ericsson celebrates return with pole

After receiving a late call-up to the Raikkonen Robertson Racing line-up for the Rockingham weekend, Marcus Ericsson celebrated his return to the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series by securing pole for the second race.

The Swedish driver was less than seven-hundredths of a second quicker than Riki Christodoulou during the session, securing pole for his new team against the outfit that ran him last season.

"It was a fantastic lap," he said. "It's been so close all weekend that to be on top is fantastic. I'm really proud."

Behind the front row duo, Renger van der Zande continued his impressive pace for Hitech with the third quickest time, while Henry Arundel enjoyed arguably his best qualifying performance to date by putting his Carlin Dallara-Volkswagen on the second row of the grid. JTR's Nick Tandy and Carlin's Max Chilton rounded out the top six.

Points leader Daniel Ricciardo was unable to repeat his pace from earlier in the day and could only qualify in eighth place, sharing row four of the grid with Daisuke Nakajima.

In the National Class, Gabriel Dias was unable to match his top ten overall performance from first qualifying, but still took class honours in 13th place overall ahead of Daniel McKenzie and Victor Correa.
