van der Zande leads Hitech 1-2

Renger van Zande has taken his third pole position of the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series at Donington Park to maintain Hitech's recent strong run of form.

Pole for the Dutchman, with Walter Grubmuller joining him on the front row, ensured a fifth pole in a row for the Hitech squad, with van der Zande less than a tenth of a second clear of Grubmuller and points leader Daniel Ricciardo in third.

"It wasn't easy at all,” van der Zande said. “it took a long time for the tyres to come in and the track was getting quicker all the time, so it had to be done in the last few laps. It looks like dominant Hitech here because Walter is P2."

Carlos Huertas enjoyed his best qualifying performance of the season to date for Double R to slot into fourth place on the timesheets, albeit two-tenths of a second away from pole, with Max Chilton and Adriano Buzaid rounding out the top six. Riki Christodoulou was seventh for Fortec, while National Class polesitter Gabriel Dias was an impressive eighth overall.

Newcomer Dominic Storey, making his F3 debut with Double R, was 16th quickest.
