Mygale finally claimed its first race victory in the Italian F3 series as Alan Racing's Pablo Sanchez Lopez claimed the win in race two of the Misano weekend.

Finishing sixth in race one gave the Mexican the pole for Sunday's finale and he made full use of it to win by 14secs as an incident in his wake caused both chaos and controversy.

"This first victory in Italy for a Mygale chassis rewards the team for all the development work of these months together with the French constructor, which always believed in us," team boss Alberto Locatelli commented, "Sanchez successfully used for the first time the first part of an aero evolution step to which some more details will be added in occasion of the next round at Varano."

While Marco Zipoli (Lucidi Motors) and Salvatore Cicatelli (Team Ghinzani) completed the podium, the man who crossed the line in second place, series leader Daniel Zampieri (BVM-Target) was relegated to eleventh by the stewards who seemed him responsible for causing an accident that hampered RC Motorsport debutant Stephane Richelmi and the retirement of two Lucidi drivers, Sergio Campana and Francesco Prandi.

Prema Powerteam team-mates Francesco Castellacci and Daniel Campos-Hull sandwiched the recovering Richelmi at the foot of the top six.

Zampieri had also been involved in a contentious moment in race one, after contact with Campos-Hull left the Spanish polewinner on the sidelines on the opening lap. Campos-Hull had been overtaken at the getaway by Campana and Castellacci, and the pair led initially before Zampieri closed on Castellacci and took his focus away from chasing down the leader.

"Campana was competitive throughout the weekend, and won authoritatively in race one to get closer to Zampieri in the overall classification," team manager Gabriele Lucidi noted, "That was a positive outcome despite his involvement in an accident at the start of race two, which prevented him from probably adding further points. It was also a great performance from Zipoli, who got on the podium on his debut with the team and strengthened his position in the championship."

The battle for the second position was only concluded only on the last lap, and was eventually won by the points leader, while Richelmi, Zipoli and Sanchez Lopez completed the top six.

"Castellacci enjoyed his best weekend of the season points-wise and had the satisfaction of race one's podium," Prema team manager Grazia Troncon reflected, "but we cannot say that we took all we expected from the meeting after taking pole position for the opening race. Campos-Hull's weekend was unavoidably compromised by contact with Zampieri that cost him retirement in race one but, in race two, despite starting from the back, he managed to obtain points that could turn out to be very important in the season finale."

Overall, Zampieri keeps the lead of the championship with 93 points, but his advantage over Campana has been reduced to just two, with Campos Hull - with 64 points - and Zipoli, on 61, keeping a watching brief.The classification sees Zampieri at the lead with 93 points, ahead of Campana with 91. Zipoli, third with 80 points, along with Sanchez-Lopez, on 72, and Campos-Hull, on 69, keep watching briefs ahead of the next round, at Varano, over 1-2 August.
