Open: Cashflow ends Legris' title hopes

Jonathan Legris has seen his bid to lift the European F3 Open Championship title ended by the perennial problem of not having enough finance to see out the season.

The Briton, who currently lies third in the standings at the halfway point in the eight-round season, will not be able to continue his successful spell in the Emilio de Villota-run team after failing to find backing, even after a run of solid results, including a victory at Spa-Francorchamps and podium on home soil at Donington Park in the last two double-header rounds.

"Its a real shame to leave when we are so competitive - we dominated the last two rounds - but now I have to look at other options, even outside of single-seaters, to keep me sharp whilst trying to find the sponsors to carry on for next year," a disappointed Legris commented.
