Euro: van der Zande re-joins series

Renger van der Zande has confirmed that he will switch back to the F3 Euro Series for the remainder of the season, something that means he will skip the British F3 Brands Hatch finale this weekend.

van der Zande, who is currently second in the 2009 Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series, is no stranger to Euro F3, having contested one round already this season.

For the remainder of the year he will drive for Motopark Academy, beginning this weekend in Barcelona, before also going to Dijon and Hockenheim.

"I am really looking forward to getting back to the F3 Euro Series, a championship that I know and have enjoyed a lot of success in," said the 23-year-old.

"I have enjoyed my time in British F3. It is a great, historic series where many top drivers have won and for me to have got three victories and nine podiums in total and not having done the full season, I am very happy. I want to thank Hitech for giving me the chance to race."

van der Zande's focus now shifts to Spain and the Circuit de Catalunya, a happy hunting ground for him in 2007, when he won there, but he knows it will be a harder task this weekend.

"I drove for Motopark in Oschersleben this year and it is a great team. I hope to be back on the pace straight away.

"But it is never easy joining a series during the season. Although I have done it once this year, and I hope to achieve the same success in the last three rounds of the F3 Euro Series," he added.

Daddy Grubmuller wants to give his son 2nd place then! Jeez, after van der zande couldn't give grubmuller the championship he gets booted out for the last race to let grubmuller catch up the 10 points and take 2nd away from van der zander! I hope grubmuller does something stupid and doesn't get the 10 points, what good is a 2nd place in the championship when it has been earned like this???????

I know right? Van der Zande is a good driver, and because Grubmuller's dad runs the team, he's not allowed to win the title. I think, given a fair crack at it, he would have taken the fight to Riciardo
