Svendsen-Cook added to Carlin line-up

Carlin inks deal with Rupert Svendsen-Cook for the 2010 British F3 Championship.
Rupert Svendsen-Cook will join Carlin for the 2010 Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series.

The 19-year-old will race alongside Racing Steps Foundation driver James Calado and Red Bull racer Jean-Eric Vergne who have already been announced at the championship winning squad.

Svendsen-Cook heads to Carlin following two years in the competitive Formula BMW Europe championship, in which the young British driver took two podiums and eight top six positions to finish sixth overall in the championship standings in 2009.

Speaking about his plans for 2010, Svendsen-Cook said: "I'm delighted to be with Carlin for 2010. They have the best record in British F3, but most importantly I already feel really comfortable in the team.

"The F3 car is a fairly big step up from Formula BMW, but the car is amazing, with so much more grip than I'm used to. Testing has gone really well so far and I can't wait for the season and the racing to get underway."

Last season Carlin became the first team since 2000 to take back-to-back championship wins in British F3, following a dominant charge to the title in 2008 and victory with Daniel Ricciardo in 2009. Now the squad is aiming for a hat-trick in 2010.

"Rupert is a great young British driver," stated Carlin race director Trevor Carlin. "Despite some bad luck in Formula BMW this year, he put in a strong performance to finish sixth in a very competitive field. We've been very impressed with his performance testing the F3 car and also the way he has gelled with the team.

"Our British F3 team is really starting to take shape now and it's exciting to think what they might be able to achieve together in 2010."
