Litespeed switches to Dallara, signs Bridger

Lotus F1 affiliates Litespeed will continue to compete in British Formula 3 next season with Jay Bridger at the wheel of a Dallara-VW
Litespeed F3 has confirmed it will compete in the 2010 Cooper Tyres British Formula 3 Championship with Jay Bridger and a Volkwagen-powered Dallara sourced from ART Grand Prix.

Litespeed made its debut in the F3 category in 2008 and immediately drew attention through its unique use of the SLC chassis, but after failing to make a competitive impression during a season and a half of racing, it has now decided to switch to more popular Dallara machinery.

Indeed, having been involved in Lotus's successful effort to secure an F1 entry, Litespeed have put together a competitive package in 2010 by securing the chassis used by ART to win the 2009 Euroseries F3 title, as well as Volkswagen power.

On the driver front, Bridger makes a full return to Litespeed after his first season in the International class was hampered by a split with initial employers West-Tec following the opening round.

Nonetheless, with Litespeed stepping in to help Bridger prepare the Mygale-Honda under his own banner, the former National class champion is confident he is better positioned to perform better in 2010.

“Litespeed F3 helped me through a difficult season in 2009 and I am looking forward to demonstrating to both Litespeed and my new sponsors H2 Industries just how competitive I can be” said Bridger “I have unfinished business in the British F3 Championship and the package that Litespeed have put together for 2010 is very strong, I can't wait for the season to start!”

Furthermore, Litespeed's Nino Judge is hoping the team's affiliation with Lotus F1 will help form the first step on the developmental ladder for younger drivers such as Bridger.

“This is the first of our driver announcements and we are very pleased to continue our relationship with Jay,” he said.

"The support from Lotus F1 has been remarkable and my new role as Head of European Driver Development at Lotus has enabled Litespeed F3 to provide the possibility of a direct route into F1 for up and coming drivers. It would be fantastic if Jay could be the first Litespeed F3 graduate.”
