Alex Brundle to F3 with T-Sport

8 February 2010

The Brundle name will return to the British Formula 3 Championship in 2010 after Alex, son of former Formula 1 driver Martin, put pen to paper on a deal to compete with T-Sport Volkswagen.

Brundle switches to Formula 3 after a season spent participating in the inaugural FIA Formula 2 Championship, the 19-year-old finishing 19th overall with a best result of fifth position at Spa-Francorchamps.

Basing his decision to switch on the hope of receiving more track time, Brundle was also pleased to be getting the chance to have a successful team around him.

“I am very motivated by the opportunity to race in British F3,” he said. “I love the car and this will be the first time in my motorsport career I have had the benefit of a team around me. I am going to work hard to use that new-found support to turn in some strong results for T-Sport.

“Thank you to my long term sponsors GAC logistics, the Space Exploration Network and to Volkswagen Motorsport.”

Brundle follows in the footsteps of his father Martin, who last competed at F3 level in 1983 when he finished runner-up to Ayrton Senna.

Participating in the international class, Brundle is the second driver to be confirmed to T-Sport after Menasheh Idafar was recently added to the team's national class effort.
