Euro: Mortara: I’m going for maximum points

23 April 2010

Formula 3 Euroseries championship leader Edoardo Mortara is confident going into this weekend's race at the Hockenheimring in the Rhineland, western Germany.

Mortara won at the opening round of the 2010 F3 Euroseries at France's Circuit Paul Ricard two weeks ago, taking victory in the feature race and finishing second in the sprint. He leads second place driver Alexander Sims by three points in the drivers' standings.

“Hockenheim is a real all-rounder circuit with some quite long straights, and braking is very important here,” he said. “Cars arrive at the first-gear hairpin very fast, and because it's slippery and bumpy it's easy to lock a wheel. This is where most of the overtaking opportunities will be and it's critical to get good traction at the apex and good exit speed.

“Because of the length of the straights, you don't want to run too much downforce. There are two very fast corners, turns 1 and 8. A good set-up is crucial and Signature has always got it right here, in my experience

“I've always been competitive at Hockenheim with Signature, and after my great weekend at Paul Ricard I'm excited to be back in the car. I'm going all out for maximum points. It's going to be fun.”
