Euro: Magnussen takes first win

Kevin Magnussen wins second race at Valencia
Kevin Magnussen scored his first win on his debut weekend in the Formula 3 Euroseries with victory in race two at Valencia.

Magnussen took the flag ahead of Nicolas Marroc, who took the podium for the first time, with Laurens Vanthoor completing the podium in third.

Points leader Edoardo Mortara took sixth place to maintain his advantage at the head of the title race.

Magnussen took the lead at the start and pulled clear from the rest of the field more and more during the 27 race laps, eventually winning by more than ten seconds and the Motopark driver admitted he was surprised to win.

“This victory comes as a surprise for me, too,” he said. “I came to Valencia without any expectations, I just wanted to do my best. My race was fantastic, I was able to pull clear immediately. I just concentrated on avoiding mistakes.”

Behind the top three, Valtteri Bottas took fourth for ART ahead of team-mate Alex Sims and Signature pairing Mortara and Marco Wittmann. Jim Pla, Daniel Juncadella and Matias Laine completed the ten finishers.
