Tatiana Calderon has been announced as the third Carlin driver for the Formula 3 European championship after impressing with strong testing performances in Valencia and Monteblanco over the winter.

The 21-year-old says she is delighted to join the British team and is confident she can make real progress at the sharp end of the grid. The Colombian racer will team-mate the already announced Callum Ilott and George Russell.

"I'm extremely happy to be joining such a successful team as Carlin for the 2015 FIA F3 European Championship season," Calderon said. "I love the team's working atmosphere and everyone's determination to succeed; I'm sure together with the support from Volkswagen Motorsport we will achieve great things. I'm in a great position, surrounded by great people and I want to make the most of this opportunity."

Calderon returns for a third consecutive season in the Euro F3 series after competing with Double R in 2013 and Jo Zeller in 2014. The Colombian finished 15th in the championship last season with a best result of fifth place at Spa. As well as racing in Formula 3 last year, Calderon also raced in the Florida Winter Series, claiming one win in her first race weekend in Sebring.

Team owner Trevor Carlin is confident Calderon will take her chance to prove herself in the Carlin Volkswagen powered Dallara car.

"We've wanted Tatiana in the team for some time now and we're delighted that everything came together this season to allow us to have Tatiana with us," Carlin said. "She was very impressive in testing, and her determination and professionalism will really stand her in good stead for the season ahead. I'm expecting to see some good results from her from the outset."
