Fabian Schiller has joined British outfit Team West-Tec F3 for the upcoming FIA Formula 3 European Championship.

The 17-year-old German driver has two seasons of single-seater car racing experience under his belt after competing in the ADAC Formula Masters series between 2013-2014. He notched up three wins over the two seasons and finished eighth in the drivers' standings last year.

The youngster has already had experience in Formula 3 after racing in the EuroFormula Open in Barcelona for the West-Tec F3 team, reaching the top ten.

"Throughout the winter, Team West-Tec F3 was my favourite for my Formula 3 European Championship debut season," Schiller said. "Now I'm happy that we succeeded in agreeing upon a deal."

Team West-Tec F3 made its debut in the EURO F3 series last year, finishing sixth in the teams' standings with the highlight of the year being Puerto Rican driver Felix Serralles's fourth place finish at Spa. The team has handed Schiller a full season race seat for 2015.

"We have been watching Fabian's career for quite a while," said Team Principal John Miller, "and having had the chance of offering him his first F3 testing opportunity was nice. In the tests, he was fast and displayed a controlled, matured approach at the same time. I think that he will familiarise himself with the Formula 3 European Championship well."

The season begins on the 9-10 May at Silvestone, with Schiller becoming the third German on the Euro F3 grid, joining Markus Pommer and Nicolas Pohler.
