Felix Rosenqvist converted his free practice dominance into a pole position for race one of round two of the European Formula 3 championship at Hockenheim.

The Prema Powerteam driver, who also claimed pole for race one at the season opener at Silverstone, looked like his control of top spot was going to come under serious threat from a number of rivals as Jake Dennis, Maximillian Gunther and Antonio Giovinazzi all swapped provisional pole times.

With just minutes remaining the Swedish driver put in the fastest lap of the day, a 1m 32.455s, to grab P1 ahead of championship leader Giovinazzi by just 0.014s. Gunther heads the second row ahead of Charles Leclerc, while it is an all Prema Powerteam third row with Lance Stroll and Dennis.

The Prema Powerteam theme continues with Brendon Maisano starting from seventh and Raoul Hyman, Callum Illott and Markus Pommer round out the top ten for Friday's race one at the German circuit.
