Ralf Aron is preparing to step up to the European Formula 3 championship next season with defending champions Prema Powerteam.

The 17-year-old Estonian graduates from the Italian F4 championship after claiming the title with Prema, while former Italian F4 winner Lance Stroll has already re-signed with the team for a second season in Euro F3.

Aron, who also finished runner-up in the 2014 Renault NEC 1.6 series, is thrilled to remain with Prema as he moves up a level ahead of his rookie Euro F3 campaign.

“I am very happy to make the step from Formula 4 to Formula 3 and specially with Prema,” Aron said. “We had a fantastic season together and I am grateful for the opportunity, hopefully I can make them proud again.”

After being impressed by Aron's talents this year Prema team manager Rene Rosin saw the selection as the obvious choice for 2016.

“Continuing our relationship with Aron really seemed like a logical choice for us,” Rosin said. “After the extremely successful year we experienced together in Formula 4, running really well both in the Italian and in the German series, I was really curious to see him behind the wheel of our F3 machinery.

“He impressed us straight away and even provided technical insight like a seasoned veteran. It felt just right to welcome him to our Formula 3 operation and line-up together for a new challenge in 2016.”
